As they closed the front door behind them, Collins and Clark heard Mrs Trylford scream, ‘Which fucking toms have you been shagging now, you cunt?’ This was followed by the unmistakable sound of pottery hitting the wall. Both men were still smiling when they reached the car.

‘What do you think?’ asked Collins.

‘I don’t know.? He sounded legit, but mark my words: Harry Trylford is a slippery, dangerous bastard.’

‘Agreed, but is he a killer? We could ask Sheppard if he knows anything about Trylford and Mabbit when we chat to him about Margaret. What do you think?’

‘Good idea. I just hope he’s got his pants on this time. I’m still washing me hands in disinfectant.’
